I wondered whether the factory would like to comment on the new M400 revised gear shift mechanism?

- What it it?
- Why was it done?
- Is it available for the 3R?
- Cost (or free upgrade?!) :-)

Thanks.

I'd also be interested in the answer to this one as I've already had my 6-speed linkage re-assembled once and the car is now unusable stuck firmly in 3rd gear.

The change across the gate has always seemed ponderous - is this normal?

Revised linkage is not available for the 3R.

To change it (and to get the bigger new seats in) the M400 has had the centre tunnel moved to the left. Unless you want the tunnel moved then it's a no no.

Hmmm, then my stiff gearchange (1st and reverse) had better get smoother soon (as the factory has said it will)! I feel like I'm literally hammering it in sometimes - which cannot be good for the linkage!

Hhmmm, I have to think about reverse a bit, but getting first is getting easier. (Build R106, 600 miles)

My 3R (R27, 6500 miles) was a bugger to get into 1st until the 6000 mile service when the factory adjusted/lubricated the mechinism, then it was MUCH better. Used to have 'clear the gate' by semi-selecting 2nd before slotting 1st home. Did it so much it became 'normal', even when in other cars that didn't have the same issue

Never had a problem with reverse.
