Has anyone actually had their new Sportage delivered and driving it??? I ordered mine back in Feb 22 directly from the dealership as i thought it would be quicker and am still waiting. I'm furious as i have extended my current lease and still no sign of it

What timescales did the dealer give you?

Have you not seen the news in the past 18 months?

Major global supply chain issues, semiconductor shortages, material shortages, shipping issues...

Lots of us have had things delayed.

I have seen quite a few on the road and look good. What did the dealer say in terms of build? Did they give you a projected delivery date?

My sister-in-law has one. Very nice it is too, although no idea when she ordered it - it's on a lease.

Orginally end of March 22 delivery, which was too good to be true! Kia are really pushing this car but can't deliver and yes I'm fully aware of the crisis we are in I've been trying to change my car for past 18 months!

My Wife ordered one in March and took delivery middle of April.

The dealer was able to check what was on a boat and allocated us one in the colour required.

Ordered in May and told to expect it Q1 2023, maybe slipping to early Q2.

Visited a dealer yesterday and it seemed like if you ordered a mhev turn around is quick but phev and fhev could face delays due to components.

Yeah, my dealer said the same months ago so sounds like it's not getting any better.

I apologise in advance about the lack of detail in my post, but I might have the answer to these delays.

I was at lunch with a Kia main dealer last week and he was talking about a problem with new model Sportage’s he had delivered breaking. It wasn’t relevant to me at the time, so I can only partially recall, I wonder if it’s related.

He said it involved the hybrids, not the normal engined models. Something to do with a pulley failing. Kia had arguments with supplier about it being out of spec, but we’re proven wrong, it was the design not the manufacture that was the issue. They had then redesigned the part but the amended part was failing too and they were in a bit of a flap, he has cars lying all over his yard and many unhappy customers.

We commented on how very un-Kia that situation was as they are normally super reliable as indicated by them having the faith to provide the long warranty.

I haven’t checked but I would have thought a problem that big would be on the internet somewhere, don’t know if there are Kia specific forums that might have more info?

There were issues with the older hybrid systems and one of the belt pulleys breaking for the hybrid system. Not sure if that's still an issue on the new ones or not though. They usually go later on in life, 50-60k miles though not early on.

I ordered mine in early March and took delivery 3 weeks ago. It is a HEV 4 and so far excellent.
