When it comes to early warnings, the MoD and the Pentagon have nothing on the mob at PH, who dutifully reveal the latest on motors, round the clock.

Genesis (the Lexus of Hyundai, if you will) will reveal the 2021 G80 in just a couple of minutes.

Or maybe somewhere here

The introductory video says 2.5 turbo, 3.5 turbo and 2.2 diesel --- perhaps an indication of how the G80 will address the requirements of differing markets across a range of countries.

No hybrid was mentioned. Perhaps that comes later.

Ah, but what does all this mean for the UK you say.

Near the bottom of this "worldwide" page...
https://www.genesis.com/worldwide/en/genesis.html

...the people at Genesis have written the following in fine print:

"For the countries not listed above, we are currently preparing to launch Genesis. Please check genesis.com/worldwide for the updates."

You may recall a RHD Hyundai Genesis saloon (most recently called G80 in markets outside the UK) that sold very few units in the land of the Bard:

Now the Genesis brand is marching off as a distinct entity (ie: going to market separate from Hyundai).

That's one car that won't need a pandemic to depreciate in value quicker than a used condom

Will be nice as a used proposition.
Their SUV model is more attractive, GV80.

Some delightful B-roll footage in this newest review video:

flatso has it right, I reckon: this will be an outstanding value as a used car.

I also like the idea of a personal import, used. Until Genesis relaunch in the UK, you'll have the only example about. I'm aware that this brings certain risks, but you get the idea.

Perhaps the mods of PH would like no further comment on this thread.

Moving it to the horse latitudes of the H & K thread will see that few will see it. confused
