I experienced total engine failure this week in a 2014 Veloster with only 32000 miles on the clock. At 65mph the engine hesitated similar to a multiple misfire then BANG! Con rod pushed through the block.

The car is regularly serviced and uses Shell oils and petrol. There is a lot of information about how LSPI (Low Speed Pre-Ignition) can cause engine failure but there are no definiative answers on how to prevent it.

This affects new GDI direct injection engines when accelerating hard from lower speeds. In my case the car had been perfect up until this point but something made the engine blow without warning.

Quoted 8000 for a main dealer replacement so that's out of the question.....

Just thought I'd post this for information.
