Morning all, I am looking for a new (second hand) car that is ideally four wheel drive (but not essential) with a towing capacity of in the region of 2000kg. I had pretty much decided on a Skoda Yeti (having posted on here about Yeti 1.2 advice) but then also started looking at Tiguans. The budget is 10k and mileage ideally below 60k to get a few years out of the car. Rear load space is a must as I will occasionally use it for work (run my own tree surgery and grounds maintenance business) so the ability to load it with strimmers/chainsaws/towing an 8ft trailer with mowers on would be ideal. I have a Toyota Hilux for the main bit of the business but it is nice not to have to take the pick up everywhere. I am also going to need to do long motorway trips to deal with an aunt's affairs so comfort is a must. So, in a nutshell, the Yeti and Tiguan are top of the list. Is the auto box with the 2.0 diesel decent or fairly agricultural? I know the Yeti has a very good and well deserved following, the Tiguan is not desperately exciting but is there any other vehicle to consider?

Many thanks for the insights there. I hadn't thought of the Honda CR-V I have to say, will look into those too.
I have been doing round in circles all day with this (and for days before if I am honest). I have even started looking at VW Touaregs as they really do tick the space and towing boxes very well. I have found a couple of these with about 70k on the clock, one is a 2012 and the other a 2014. What are these like in terms of reliability? I know they will be more expensive to run and maintain but will a 12 year old Touareg with 65k on the clock and a very good MOT history be a nightmare?

Towing 2k kg is the ballbuster here. Most of the cars above cant can they.

My Subaru can easily.
What Subaru is it? A Forester by any chance? If so, that would fit the bill quite nicely.

Anyway, hopefully its now sold via Motorway who offered a darn sight higher price...by quite a bit...than WBAC and the trade in offered by the dealer! Then just last night....a guy nearish me said he was very interested. Like cops and buses.....
Fingers crossed it goes for you. I did give it some serious thought but really wanted a diesel one in the end. Good luck though.
