Renewed an advert I have on PH.
Within 15 mins I get three enquiries asking if it is still for sale followed by an email from PH warning about phishing and scams.

And a pal recently "sold" his car through an internet based (not ebay) auction house only to be told the highest bidder was cancelling his winning bid and the three next lowest bids were his also!

There are times when you think it may be just better to hang onto what you have or maybe just scrap it or crash it into awall.!!

Replied "Yes" to all three.
No further response from two of the enquiries the third asked

His reply:

Yes I'm from UK
What would you prefer certified check or cash?

'Certified check', definitely a potential scammer, I've had a motorbike for sale for a month now, put in the advert texts will not be answered, if you're genuine then Please ring and talk, find this stops a lot of the idiots and those who still try it on and text just ignore.

Say you'll meet them somewhere and lo and behold they will work on an oil rig or something!

Ive had 5 message me now and 3 of them start with, "do you have title for this vehicle?" Of course we dont use that phase-ology, so i suspect theyre not even from the UK. Almost demanding that i give them a VIN report, wkers..

Limited interest enthusiast UK car from the 1970's so can't see Motorway or WBAC being interested.
Had another call, an SMS message this time rather than an email, same bland enquiry, no doubt the same conclusion.

I'm likely going to give up for the moment as prices are, to quote a friend, "in freefall" at the moment.
If and when, I'll probably stick it (them) into an auction house. Bit far from Mathewsons, possibly Morris Leslie. C&C were asking me to list a car at their auctions last year but the fees were were going to be too high for what the car would sell for.
