I need a new daily as the lease on my Ioniq5n will be up in 6 months.

But - I am totally uninspired. There was a time when I was excited about a new car, and had a list of what I wanted. The Ioniq5n was the last of those.

There are no current ICE cars in budget that inspire me, or even make me think "thats nice" and there are no EV's save from the Ioniq5n that do it for me unless I am spending 2 x my budget.

I must be missing something.

I am looking for:

1. Not an SUV
2. Ideally 4 seats
3. Drivers car ie great chassis and handling, good steering feedback
4. Relatively cheap to run - eg ICE that does 35mpg will cost me about £90 more per week on fuel than the I5n
5. Quick - so many slow morons on the road, I am amazed at how often I find myself using the I5n's performance to pass the insanely slow
6. Range >250 miles real world
7. A bit different and looks good 9subjective but things like the BMW huge grille are a massive turnoff)
8. Budget £70k but cheap to lease via my company
9. EV preferred (best thing ever for a daily)

Seriously I can't think of anything aside from an I6n but I hate the shape

Help inspire me

What about the i3 50? Won’t be as quick as your current car, but I doubt the M60 will be out in time for you unless you can delay the return of the 5N a bit.

What about halving your budget and considering alpine A290

Or take a chance on the A390? (but it doesn't fit the "not a suv")

If you increased your budget "a bit" you could get a base 911 or Taycan

Alpine A290 GTS+ would be my pick, not sure the range is quite up to spec though. But will be well under budget, could probably get 2 of them.

Another 5N seems like the answer to me.

Can you clarify point 8 in terms of cheap to lease through your company? There are cars over 70k that would be cheaper to lease than a 70k car based on deals around. A basic Taycan and a Lotus Emeya might all into that situation where you can get a more expensive list price car but similar monthlies

I had a Giulia before the i5n. Hate to say it but the EV is better! Giulia lease prices are mental.

You’d get a decent Tesla Model 3 Performance easily in budget.

Not great steering feedback but once you get your head round that they are all very good handling cars and incredibly quick point to point.

Will offer a different diving experience not being an SUV and significantly lighter. It’s more agile and can carry more speed.

Yes they look bland but realistically it’s going to be faster than the Ioniq 5N but the Tesla isn’t trying to be your ‘drivers car’. Low running costs and offers a very different personality.

I forgot to add. I’m not giving my money to Elon Musk.

Ioniq5n is slightly quicker than a model 3 performance but not by much.

I probably should have expanded to make it clearer that I meant day to day.

I drove both (along with 20 other cars) a few months back now to replace the Model 3 Long Range I had at the time. Ioniq 5N was quicker up top but for anything on the road the Tesla definitely seems more faster despite the extra sensation of noise in the 5N. Driving down a B road with a bit of spirit there is no hiding that additional mass either she s a very big girl. Temperature drop in Autumn-Spring and a reduction in tyre performance was massively at the back of my mind for my useage as they are doing some mega lifting!

I went with neither in the end as both just not for me.

Happy searching!

Musk is a tube.

The M60 is definitely more on a par with the I5n performance wise, slightly more expensive but the range is pretty much double at over 500 miles.

Due for deliveries to start in March 2027 i think?

I quite like the i6n, but can see why it's a bit marmite. I was going to get a used i6 ultimate before I went with my Tesla m3 lease. (and btw, I also think Musk is a prize plum!)

I'll look at the M60. I need a car in March/April

I3 50 is possibly interesting but what is it with BMW and front end hideousness?

I assume you've already considered the long range Polestar 2? They've got some decent deals on pre reg cars

Is there an option with your current lease to keep it going for another 6 months? There normally is although whether the terms are favourable is another question entirely! You might be one of the first in the country with an i3 M60 if you can hold off till around Q3 ‘27

Maybe they’ll work wonders on the looks with the M60 and it’ll be more appealing g with wider arches and different bumpers etc - more like an M3 lite smile

Ruled out the Polestar 2 when I first looked at EV's before the I5n came out. Polestar4 had potential but the chassis does not inspire comfidence and lacl of rear window is both annoying and idiotic

I doubt you'll get anywhere near even a 50 for £750-800 a month on a 2 year/12k mile deal without a large payment up front. Current prices are well over £1k for 1+23/10k + VAT.

Another 5n or a 6n look to be the only options that meet all of your requirements.

Not for £650 a month + VAT he won't unfortunately.

BMW M4? Not ev, but possibly more class, presence etc than Hyundai, meets most of criteria

2024 ones are mid 50s, a bargain as it's not as cool as m3 estate, I'm guessing if it has to be new great deals are out there. it's your own co. So need care to avoid too much tax, either personal tax or p11d

E.g. co. Pays you allowance for personal lease or purchase

Just brain storming, I'd personally try to find a way!
