How about something with a little more class and a tad older, such as a Cayenne GTS (958.1 V8 or 958.2 V6 TT), or even a Cayenne Turbo.

They are incredibly capable machines with air supension and PDCC options, a far nicer place to be than an X3M and ride a hell of a lot better than that hard jiggly thing!

I recently had the same thought process and funnily enough ended up buying a Cayenne 958.1 GTS as suggested above. Lovely place to be, fast, interesting, good to drive. I paid 19k for a 37k mile japanese import but will probably spend the other £21k on petrol this year......

Isn't the SQ5 the X3 equivalent or are you just considering different sized options.

F-pace SVR as per ZX above was the first thing that came to mind, I can't get excited by the German equivalents in comparison but each to their own.

Maserati Levante? Trim and spec vary hugely.

This one is near me and I'm thinking "£26k for a V6, pan roof, main dealer, px the Volvo..." biggrin

The Levante definitely needs the V6S engine at least.

I like the RSQ8 thing or this:

I think you want something with presence and noise, so at least a V8 of some description, as speed wise they’re all too fast and ultimately a waste of time.

More space for the husky

Xc90 T8. Ideally with a smattering of polestar mapping from the dealer

Too big? Get an XC60 T8

I had an X3M for 4 years. Didn’t find the ride jiggly at all. I’d have another one like a shot. Epic engine.

What's the difference? The amount of choices is baffling.

The X3m Is a far far better car than the RSQ3 IMO.

They are a fantastic used car, holding their value currently and whenever I have one in stock they sell quickly.

Do your homework and get the right car as a fair few dogs out there.

Thanks all for the input ,The RSQ8 is way to. Big that’s out,The V8 Levante is possible just within budget looks nice but looking a little dated now imo, I do like the RSQ3 that Dazza engine is very capable a little under powered but as some have said (They are all to powerful, The BMW X3M wow are they holding there price only a hand full under 40k and no well spec ones, At the moment the face lifted 2021 Jaguar F Pace SVR is a strong Contender ????

How come no Macan if you are looking at the RSQ3? A Macan S represents good value and 40K would get you a very nice one. Not the fastest but the best handling SUV out there.

Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S (X253 Facelift, 2019–2021)

Why not an estate...the rsq3 is too small for your husky...but this will do the job: Audi RS4 Avant (B9 Generation, 2018–2021)

An early GTS or 3.6 Turbo would easily come under budget.

For the budget you'll get a good spec 2020/21 GTS with reasonable miles

A happy middleground perhaps? X3 M40i

It's arguably a better drive on our ste roads than the x3m, although obviously not as turbo-nutter-bd. And it will be a fair bit cheaper to run than the x3m/cayenne/svr etc
