Hi,

I am looking to purchase a car in Italy and then drive it back to the UK. I am a UK resident, and hold a UK license. I am struggling to see if it is possible to purchase the car in Italy, transfer the vehicle to me get temporary insurance and then drive it back.

As currently all UK insurance providers need it to be UK registered and all European providers need me to be a European citizen. Hoping that someone has delt with this issue before and there is a work around. I do have a mate who has family in Italy, don't know if that could help the issue if he was to be the only registered driver.

There was an almost identical thread to this in the last 6 months or so which had advice from people who had brought cars back from Italy before.

I'd link it if I could find it but the search function on here is rotten!

If you cost it, time and expenses , it really isn't worth it. Add in what you will spend on food , coffee, snacks too, it adds up.

Loads of transport companies at reasonable cost.
