Used 2020+ BMW 118i - worth buying?
Discussion
Hi, i'm looking to change car and the 2020+ BMW 118i (petrol, automatic) seems the most interesting in my budget (15-17k). I test drove one a few weeks ago and I liked it however I'm worried about potential costs of general maintenance/fuel and whether it's actually reliable.
I currently have a Kia Picanto and in the ~3.5 years that I've owned it, aside from the usual costs I only had to dish out a bit on the brakes once and that was really it cost wise. Had no issues with reliability and MPG currently shows at 41.3
Anyone have any advice regarding it, or what to look out for when buying?
Thanks

Last autumn, Mrs 131 Sport got a three years old 118i M Sport Auto from BMW as an approved used car. A few weeks ago I took it on a 500 mile business trip and it performed well.
The car replaced a Mini Cooper Clubman and I would say the BMW quality and refinement is far superior.
There are a lot on the BMW used car website and prices are competitive. Running costs should be fine and nothing out of the ordinary.

About 10 days ago we bought a 2018 118i, so one of the last of the previous generation. It was usefully cheaper than the 2020+ models (£12k with FBMWSH on 77k miles), and drove better than the later ones we tried due to being rear wheel drive and having a better gearbox (the ZF8).
No idea on reliability as yet - although it had just had a new turbo from BMW - but it's averaged about 34 mpg since we've had it, mostly around town.
Very comfortable, loads of kit, we're over the moon with it.
