I am after a very fast (300bhp+) automatic estate with mileage below 50k. I am thinking along the lines of M340i or AMG CL45, but wanted to make sure I am not missing any obvious other models.
My main issue is that while there are plenty of M340i's for sale, most are with traders, and I generally tend to prefer buying from private sellers where I can get a better appreciation of how the owner has looked after the car.

Overall reliability and good reviews on handling are also important.

Other options are VW Golf R estate and Audi RS4 Avant. (If you don’t mind VAG cars).

You can get a decent C63 estate in that budget can't you?

I will say that if you want very fast you'll need to look at that sort of category, the M340, S4 etc are quick cars but they don't feel rocketship fast.

Surely the answer is an RS6?

Failing that an E/C63 estate

A lot depends on the desired size of the estate. To me the E53 and CLA45 shooting brake are very interesting fairly fast estates but massively different proportions and engines.

The 340 would remap well and make it a bit more exciting for not a lot of money.

I’d say for most drivers a C43 is quicker than a C63. E63 is a different beast.

£35k and under 50,000 miles is very close to 4 litre E63 prices.
Eg £34990 and 52,000 miles here

550bhp, all wheel drive, loads of space, epic noise and £195 tax.
That’d be my choice all day long, unless you want something a bit smaller.
