My Porsche Taycan was collected today by Manheim Cox Services at the end of its lease. I really wanted to buy it, but VWFS wouldn’t negotiate on the price. Given how much EVs have depreciated lately, their asking price just didn’t make sense — especially when similar cars from main dealers are going for the same money (or less) with lower mileage, proper prep, and a 2-year warranty. Realistically, I’d have needed mine to be at least £12k cheaper to make it worthwhile.

The collection driver mentioned it’s heading to Manheim in Bruntingthorpe, near Leicester.

Does anyone know if there’s a company or broker with a Manheim trade account who could bid on the car on my behalf and charge a small fee for the service?

‘Small fee’ why would anyone want to do that? You could keep a look out and buy it for a large fee, if you like it so much.

If anybody bids then they are obligated to buy, so they’d want your money, or at least a very significant deposit in advance.

I’ve an account, but I’d not bid on behalf, be careful plenty of stories of buyers losing deposits etc. you might be able to apply for an account.

What’s the reg number I’ll share info when it comes up. Be careful lots of buying services went bust + auction cars are plus fees and never that cheap.

I love how someone can describe something as "my porsche" yet also describe how it didn't make sense to pay the asking price, and it was taken away despite the fact you still wanted it.

It was never your porsche!

Get a grip. Same as ‘my house’ when you have a mortgage.
