So need to get a new daily car towards the end of the year, in doing so found that I am really wanting an XKR, however once the initial drooling phase is over started to think about all the boring stuff, practicality’s etc….

I have 2 small kids 6 and 2 (plus wife) that I need to ferry around at the weekends, and keep reading conflicting reports some say ok some say no a chance I guess I won’t know till I have the car and try out some car seats, which makes my head kick into gear saying might not be the best choice.

Looked at XFR (same engine) but the styling just don’t get me.

Sensible option is a BMW 640d GC

But I’ve also cast my eye over a Audi RS5

My budget is 15-20k

Daily drive is 50 mile round trip on B roads

mpg not an issue (within 20-30mpg)

Want something a bit special and fun/enjoyment out of every day

Any suggestions

I had a XKR when my two were six and three and in all honesty, it did not work carrying the Children in the rear of the vehicle from both the legroom perspective and the ‘cocoon’ aspect of the rear of the vehicle.

Ohhh......thanks for this. Not what i wanted to hear haha, but great to get an actual definitive answer from someone who's been there and done that.

I think I sadly need to forget the XKR..........

Maybe a M6 GC could be the answer, but i am lead to think these can have major expensive issues. Plus these creep outside the budget

Sorry to say that will not be a child friendly space in the back of the XKR but there are some great options that won't break the bank maintenance/reliability wise.

+1 to this:

Or you could get an XFR is a cracking option:

If you don't mind high miles, then the XFR-S could be an option:

If the M6 GC floats your boat then I'd suggest the CLS63 in bulletproof 5.5 form:

Panamera 4.8T:

S6, these are a bit of a sleeper with great performance (the XFR is a better steer) not the most involving but a cracking daily none the less:

S8:

M2:

RS3 but in all honesty I'd take the S5 everytime:

I'm bias but the C63 in 125 edition spec is a good fit:
