Next car advice!

Hi All,

I currently have an SQ5 which I am going to be returning in the next few weeks. Going to have a budget of £20-£23k to spend on something buying it outright. Can be petrol or diesel, mustn't be too slow and have four doors so no coupes and crucially, absolutely not an SUV of any kind! I just wanted to ask if anyone had some recommendations by chance? Trying to get something with 35k miles or less, ideally main dealer so you get the warranty but not a deal breaker. Some of the cars that have sprung to mind initially are:

BMW 3 series estate
BMW 5 series estate
Audi S3 (shape before the latest one)
Mercedes E Class estate
Maybe an A4 Avant but not an A6 Avant as they are out of budget

Any suggestions greatly received as need to start researching them and weighing up running costs - servicing etc

How about 4 series (F32) gran coupe?

They look very smart and are a rare sight, a 335i / d or 340i would be great I think

you could also squeak into an early F80 saloon

Thank you very much for your replies everyone and I really appreciate it!

There's some cars there I certainly hadn't considered at all!! The 640D GC in particular had not crossed my mind at all yet always think they would be nice when I see one on the road! A 3 litre diesel is the preference I think having had one in the Audi which is going back.

Some great suggestions in here and will do some more reading up. Since the recommendation I have been looking at G20 3 Series' as had no idea they would be in budget. There are a couple of 330D's there which do look very tempting. If anyone has any first hand experience of these would be great to hear! Also if anyone has comparable experience of the F30 (330d or 335d) versus the G20 330d that would be great to hear.

And apologies I didn't specify - not looking to get a Tesla/EV but really appreciate you mentioning it
