Do a search and find all the threads like : I bought a car, and now I've found out it was written off, what can I do, I know I should have done a check before I bought it etc etc.

Yes, they are worth it

Vcheck is far cheaper than most and is very comprehensive depending on which report you choose

Avoid car-checking.com

They will sign you up for a subscription service without permission. The reviews online are scathing.

Official HPI check and a basic V-Check will cover the bases.

Indeed. Also do a free MoT check on the gov.uk site first as that will potentially highlight issues without having to spend a penny.

i rate vcheck

checked a vehicle just the other day and it showed the salvage auction pics from 4 months ago where it had front and rear damage.
