Hi all,

I’m looking to purchase a LHD car and it is a relatively new arrival from Sweden 2008 BMW. The owner has sent me a Swedish CarFax print out, but I was unable to get the AA to perform a pre-purchase check because the car is not on their system.

I was looking for advice as to what due diligence I should carry out and where I can do that? I imagine I could get a local independent BMW specialist to check the car over, but is there anything I should be wary of?

Thanks for your advice.

- some sort of BMW health check.
- copies of whatever report from its roadworthiness check
- does the registration / ownder details match up with this https://fordon-fu-regnr.transportstyrelsen.se/

If you were to import it here, it would attract import duty and VAT, and there will be UK compliencing costs for headlamps and so on.

I have been looking at a car here which is registered in Sweden. If my intention is to take the car to Spain in July, can I drive it here and insure it with a Uk company until July?

Thanks
