I am buying a car.

Current v5 says 2 former keepers.

Would I be the third or fourth owner?

I am a bit confused as the dealer ad, said one former keeper, when I got there it became 2 and now I am confused.

It’s a small dealer and he is selling the car on behalf of his aunt, so I am guessing it’s not registered to him.

Car comes with warranty and dealer invoice.

I would appreciate any other advice

Thanks

Sam

It has 2 previous owners, so the current owner is the 3rd, when you get the V5 it will show 3 previous keepers and you will be the 4th

If the dealer ad was on autotrader then their system gives odd results... when it says one former keeper it means one before the current one. So, you would effectively become the third.

Either it’s a dealer sale car or it isn’t, “selling for family member” is often used to try and make it some form of private sale.

Tread carefully, you can’t sign away your consumer rights but it’s potentially an indicator of a struggle if something goes wrong.

+1

'Selling it for my Aunt' sounds very much like a dealer trying to avoid dealer obligations.

Be very careful and if you do buy it make absolutely sure it's done as a dealer sale not private.

Personally, I think I'd be looking for one somewhere else
