I know theae hybrids excel around town, but does anyone have any experience of these on long-ish commutes at steady 60-70mph? Does it decimate the MPG and whole experience?

I've test driven one and loved the fit and finish. CVT gearbox wasn't my favourite thing mind you.

I know for my usage it would make sense to get some sort of diesel merc or something, but I just love the Lexus brand, the fact that they extend the warranty with main dealer servicing, the reliability..

A nice approved used example can be had for around 13-17k, I'd rather spend towards the lower end of that bracket, and with some brands you just can end up with some neglected used propositions.

Any experiences or advice gratefully received.

Thanks

Mainly motorway & I will be low to mid 30's (there are some out there that can get in the 40's) if you like the brand you can get the IS250:

On regular trips from Surrey to Cornwall id see 42-45mpg. That's at 70mph indicated on my phone nav.

Around town was the same. Don't recall it dropping below 40 on any trip over 20mins.

I owned the mk2 is250 v6 before that and 35mpg was the max I ever saw. It was usually in the mid to late 20s.

In terms of spec, f sport has a terrible ride so wouldn't recommend. Premier is the one to get.

It's a nice car and left field but I'd test drive a bmw 330d or 430d gran coupe against it. Will get 50mpg, much more powerful and from experience they are just as reliable.
