I’m trying to avoid buying 2 cars but can’t seem to find one that does everything I want - any ideas would be appreciated ?

The criteria is….

Comfortable for long drives
Sounds like and goes like a nuke!
Can handle some rough back roads and farm tracks
Under 40k

The sort of thing I’m looking at would be Audi RSQ3, Skoda kodiaq vrs, BMW M2 competition

Or perhaps a C7 RS6, with the Quattro system

I think the AMG E63 has air suspension, so potentially quite good at covering all of your bases.

Farm tracks is going to be difficult on anything with big wheels and low profile tyres but at least they can be changed fairly easily. How about a JCW Mini Countryman?

Forester STI would deal with all of that easily. No need to add lift.

Yes, but it looks so much cooler. Most cars do if lifted, with meatier tyres.

Indeed but unsure it would help with 'Comfortable for long drives
Sounds like and goes like a nuke!'.

Edit just seen they are happy with a Skoda Kodiak VRS which is quite a fair bit slower. So yeah lift it to the sky.

With that budget you'd have your pick of the last Audi allroads before they stopped selling them in uk. Rather a niche choice, but you won't beat the comfort on the motorway, and has air suspension.

The only wrinkle is they only had the TDI engine (which is great but I don't think what you are after), although how about this import?
