Hi all

I've recently been looking for a petrol estate, came across a audi a4 2.0 at dealer
Car was lovely and drove well, then I saw the same model being sold privately for roughly the same price but with half the mileage.

Tried looking at recent mot history and there is no history at all despite being registered since 2011.
Would there any reason for this at all ? Car put straight on a private plate or is this a definite red flag ?

Happy to ring the owner tommorow and ask the question, just thought it was worth asking for opinions on here

Thanks again

When was it imported into the U.K.?

Date of first registration would be the same regardless of the country it was first registered in.

At a guess the date of first registration in the U.K. (which is a separate line on the V5C) was more recent which is why there currently is no MoT history.

Or it was previously kept in Northern Ireland, or perhaps the Isle of Man or Channel Islands?

Was it formerly registered in Northern Ireland? I believe the MOT history isn’t recorded like it is here with the DVLA. It would explain why it says 2011 but with no MOT history.

NI MOT history is recorded and it's now on the Gov portal for all to see.

also potentially been used as a taxi as they don't need to have MOT due to their stricter testing.

If it's registration plate starts LX61 then it was only registered with the DVLA this month.

Oh ok yeah that explains it.

Haha so you've seen the advert, I'm a bit gutted as i really liked the spec of the car but after speaking to them on the phone I'm convinced it's a trader or something is amiss

Thanks for all your help
