Hi all

Just after some thoughts.

I currently own a 58 plate 1.8 Mercedes c class (86k) the car has been reliable and has never let me down, recently had the rear subframe changed foc from the dealer but in 4 years of ownership it has cost me noting apart from regular oil changes

Been fancying a 3 series touring as looks alone they have always appealed to me.

I'm looking at one the weekend, 3 previous owners, full history, car is a 10 plate and just done north of 100k miles.

Cost to change will probably be a couple grand at most or I could sell privately and get a bit more.

Is it worth just keeping the c class as there probably isn't a great deal of difference in regards to performance and saving my money?

Trying to justify if to myself but I'm struggling too lol

Thanks all

Hehehah...ZX, our resident advisor who has spoiled us over the years with interesting and plentiful suggestions has finally accepted the aging process and reduced the problem to its essential nature.

Get a B58 powered 3er Touring.

What 3 series is it?

If you see it as a step up from the Merc then buy it.

Even if you just fancy a change and want a 3 series, buy it smile

Is it M sport or not. Suspension is way harder on M sport and not sure what your merc is like. Might be something to consider.

The E91 BMW is a great car. The N43 engine not so. Look for one that’s had the timing chain and tensioners replaced and should be fine. Better still, go for one of the V6 variants.

Inline 6 variants I would imagine as the V6s are thin on the ground wink
