I am looking for a family car which I will keep for years and keep looking at F11 5 series tourings. I’m looking at ones with just over 100k on the clock. Well specced ones seem to be £10000-£11000.

Is it just me or do they seem really expensive for a 8 year old car ? Which is now the old old version of the 5 series.

Have a 2014 F11 530d M Sport trim with few options.

Purchased December last year with 147k miles for £9995 from a dealer. Price was right at the time and comparable to others on the market. Although there was a similar mileage G31 520d for £11000, I do sometimes think this may have been a better purchase.

Prices have come down since then.

Great cars, but watch out for headlight water ingress - total bill in February for 1x new headlight and modules needed cost me £2400 inc. labour

I thought the same when I went hunting for a similar aged BMW touring. The cost differences in a touring vs a saloon was a big surprise, to me at least.

If you're happy with the 520d then you should have quite a few options, but that price range is the going rate. Have you considered the 3 series? They are cheaper overall than the 5 series and are still very practical cars. I started my search for a 535d and actually ended up with a 335d, saving a couple of grand in the process.

I have a heavily-optioned 2012 5 series Touring 520d, with 160k miles.

Webuyanycar.com value around £3300.

I would sell privately at just over £4000.

I have a 2011 535i touring with 111k. Had it 2 years now and I thought the price was high at time of purchase, but that's what they were going for. Most 2nd hand cars are expensive in my opinion.
