Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone could help me out on here.

I'm currently looking to buy a new car, my budget is £6500. I'm looking for something a little sporty as I currently drive a Citroen C1.

My criteria is:

Sporty hatchback but would consider other sizes of it was decent

Petrol or diesel

Decent mileage

Good sized boot to fit a push chair the trimmings

5 door.

Ive been looking at the Skoda Monte Carlo, Ford Focus, VW Golf or polo, Honda Civics, but im open to consider other cars if it fits the bill. I find it very overwhelming for what to go for.

Thanks,

Jamie

Worth checking on some insurance costings as well, as will certainly be more than a C1.

You haven't mentioned if there is an age limit on how old the car is but assumed 10 years.

Seta Leon FR; Skoda Octavia VRS (huge boot); Audi A3 Sportback (not Quattro as the boot shrinks - ask me how I know...);

Pop to a car supermarket to get an idea if it's all overwhelming, sit in a few different things.

Golf will feel solid compared to your C1, Suzuki Swift is cheaper feeling but lighter, boot may be squidgy for your pushchair. The Skoda is OK, but I'd sit in a few different things and see what you like, it's a quick way to narrow things down.

How about an Alfa Romeo Giulietta?

You can go for the

Or the 1.4 Multi Air

Or the 2.0 JTDM

There's also a 1.6 JTDM

I used to have a cloverleaf, and easily managed with a 2

The VW Polo BlueGT could be a good shout. They're available as a 5-door, they've got a decent sized boot and the interior is surprisingly spacious in my experience.

They use a little 1.4 turbo engine making about 150bhp, so plenty for you to enjoy in a smaller hatch. However they're also only £20 a year to tax and they'll do 45-50mpg easily. Reason being that they've got cylinder deactivation technology which means the car will run on just two cylinders if that's what's most efficient at any given time.

This generation of Polo handles surprisingly well but is still relaxing and comfy when you just want to get from A to B. It's not the most exciting thing in the world but it's a very good all rounder. I think a decent 2014/2015 car should come within budget.

Best of luck.
