VW Golf 1.4 TSI SE Mk 7
Discussion
Hi all,
I'm looking to buy one of these as a run around for my son, 2009 with 120k.
I know very little about Golfs but it seems like a tidy well looked after car, I think cambelt is due at 133k so any idea on the cost and how critical is it mileage wise as that could take 2 or 3 years at expected mileage.
Any other thoughts specifically on the Mk 7 1.4 TSI would be appreciated
TIA

7 speed dry clutch DSG gearboxes from that era are dire, slow witted and unreliable, stick to manual. Prone to early mechatronic failures requiring £1.5k rebuilds.
Lots of stuff will be going as the car approaches the end of its economic design life (150k miles) so expect some bills. The statistics show a fraction of 1% of UK cars make it to 200k.
