Full size SUV with a bit of interest
Discussion
The main family car has been a Q5 40 tdi for the last couple of years, which replaced a B8 S4 Avant.
The Q5 has been great, is well spec’d with pano roof, virtual dash, B&O sound amongst others. And whilst it is a very sensible and cheap to run family car, it’s still a 2.0 tdi and I find myself thinking of what next.
Whilst the power of the S4 was nice, it was too cramped in the from and back, something which the Q5 has improved on significantly.
Which has me thinking of now like something more more power, more enthusiast interest and probably a bit bigger. This is made a bit easier by tue second car, which is an e-Up!
Having watched lots of YouTube videos, and read a lot of threads on here the current shortlist is a late 958.2 Cayenne S with the 4.2 V8 diesel and an SQ7, ideally pre face lift.
The Porsche can be had for less money, looking at around £30k for 2017 platinum edition cars with below average miles.
Whilst the SQ7’s are a little more to get a decent one, with the right spec and similar miles.
I’m torn as think the Porsche might be a more enjoyable ownership experience, but concerned that what is now effectively a 14 year old model will feel quite dated compared to the Q5 and the SQ7.
Does anyone have experience of both cars?
And have I missed any interesting alternatives?

Left field, but what about the Jeep Cherokee SRT? Not as well put together, but huge grin factor and they seem to be rather stout. Well equipped too for the price.
Admittedly they're mental, but they put a big smile on your face. Yes, MPG will be hilariously bad for the most part. But one big or two big repair bills on the more usual premium German fare and all those diesel fuel savings go out the window anyway.
Just a thought. If not, that diesel V8 Cayenne will be a splendid thing.

If you can afford it then the SQ7 is the pick, they're basically the same car, with the SQ7 being the more updated version.
I was worried you might come along and say this Mrs Aussieal keeps saying the same, hold out until the spring and get the SQ7.

GLC is the same size as the Q5, I’d probably go for an SQ5 if I was staying at that size.
I like the etron, and looked at them when Audi were doing some deals on used cars earlier in tue year. But I don’t want or need a second EV.
From what you have described then its probably a touareg 3.0tdi 270 I like the etron, and looked at them when Audi were doing some deals on used cars earlier in tue year. But I don’t want or need a second EV.
