More fun to drive: macan diesel s vs 640d?
Discussion
What do you want most out of your car? Comfort, steering feel, acceleration? What is 'fun' for you?
I've a diesel XJ and I have to say the steering feel is amazing and makes the car feel far more nimble than the 5.1m length would have you believe, it's fun insomuch that it shouldn't take corners as effortlessly as it does!
I've owned a few 40d powered BMW's over the years and they've got good pull to them, though I'm sure most 3.0d's on the market have broadly similar power (c300) so performance will be down to chassis, gearbox and weight!

Something where you put it in sports mode and it becomes relatively fun to drive and responsive.
But then something that is also fuel efficient and comfortable for long distance journeys when in normal mode.
I was also considering a panamera diesel 2016 3.0 v6 but thought it might not be reliable enough.

I had a 2018 640d convertible (last year of them) a couple of cars back as my daily. I sold it to release some cash for our house move. I've had a few BMWs and it was a nice car, and quick, but I didn't miss it after I sold it and I think it just didn't have much 'soul' if that makes any sense.
Very efficient, sounded good (albeit due to 'fake noise' additions through the stereo) but I didn't gel like I have with many past cars. Also fairly impractical due to lack of interior space in the back or boot where the Macan would score much better. I have an Alpina as my fun car so now have a Ranger as my daily having gone back to something with space for shopping/DIY/garden stuff/tip etc.
If you want one car to do everything I'd go Macan of the two. I haven't driven one but have a friend who had one and she loved it (and has since moved into another Porsche).
640d is a great mile muncher for two people who don't need extra space and maybe have access to another larger car for practical duties. Best of luck.

Every 16 minutes you start a new thread. Can you really not just keep it all in your original one? We don't need another tomorrow with you comparing yet another two cars.
Quite agree, what does the OP think this place is, a discussion forum for cars? Every time he starts a new thread the mobilisation of that huge team of guys that kicks all our front doors down and forces us to read it, at gunpoint, is pretty unsettling. macron said:

Come on mate you have over 10k posts it’s a car forum for discussing cars. The only problem I see is he wants a diesel! Gassing Station | Car Buying | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
