We've got two young kids and they have rear facing seats. The youngest has a massive Silver Cross pram and bassinet that goes in the boot. We occasionally need to carry a rear seat passenger along with the kids.

My current Arteon BiTDi passes all the tests except the rear seat passenger.

So I need something the same size but with front isofix so we can pop two adults in the back, or something with 6/7 seats so we can pop an adult in the very back?

Needs to be 2020 on, approved used ideally for a full warranty and ideally under £30k-ish. Or around £350pm max on a 3+ lease (10k).

Really unsure what direction to go in. I've been nosing A6 Avant, XC90 and even the ID.Buzz

What do the good people of PH in similar circumstances drive?

My standard answer for “I need a big family bus” is “E-class estate”.

Even then, two adults in the back with a kiddy seat was “snug”. Two rear facing seats plus adult can’t be any better.

Sadly it looks like an MPV with individual 5 seats maybe the most practical choice, think VW touran or French equivalent.

However there is alternative option which allows you to keep the arteon:

The multimac seat bench thing, it allows for rear facing addons and seat buckles for adults:

Put one rear facing seat in the front, 2 adults and one rear facing seat in the rear is perhaps more managable.

these are very rare to find.... Both the Eclass and Volvos with the rear facing extra seats are very difficult to find nowadays

Had one of these for a couple of years now and they're fantastic things, really well made. However, there's not a chance you'll fit an adult in one, well not any human that has a neck anyway (they must be in a minibus in that photo)

You can remove the rear seat squab in some(/most?) cars, prevents damaging the seats and it makes it less high.
Although the kids may miss out on window views.

I have a 2015 E class estate (S212) No Isofix on the front passenger seat.Maybe the S213 (2016 onwards) has it
We have had two child seats on the back seat using isofix and the DIL sandwiched in the middle, but she was extremely slim! Even so, a tight fit

Download this pdf, it has a really good chart that shows the isofix for a lot of cars:

Look for cars with isofix in position 1:

Skoda Superb, wouldn't be too far off an order of the latest generation with some negotiation, though a 1-2 year old would fit nicely. They are absolutely vast inside, have acres of space and if you somehow fill it then you can fit a roof box. Not sure when it was introduced but most of the newer versions I have seen have front Isofix.

Granted these aren't the most emotive of cars - but they drive well, are reliable, good value and decent residuals. Importantly you don't need a masters from MIT to work the infotainment system, unlike sister VW products (even the latest version has aircon knobs!).

Superb was my first thought...much the same as your current VW but with significantly more rear space.

Cheers,
