Hi all,
First time poster 👋

I just wanted to give everyone the heads up when you are selling a car on sale or return / consignment.

I used to work for a company that only sold cars via this option. Great for the customer as more money was returned back….or was it! Sadly this isn’t always the case! For example, if you had a car advertised for £100,000, you had an agreement to say that you would return £95,000. That’s normal agreement stuff.

However what this company did would sell it for £100,000 but tell the seller they’ve had an offer for £97,000 . The seller agrees and this is where it’s wrong! The dealer has then made the £5000 agreed price but also another £3000. In my eyes this is fraud. Just wanted to give everyone the heads up when selling via sor to be vigilant

Good tip this. Is the owner not entitled to sight the sales invoice as part of the agreement? Is there no form of consumer law that would cover this transaction?

I guess as long as the seller gets what they’re happy to accept all
Is fair, no?

Due to gdpr you can not show the invoice. Not only that the garage can always credit and re-invoice! Very deceitful and dishonest
