Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice or input based on your experiences.

With the arrival of my son, I now need a 5-door car, as getting him in and out of my current coupe is becoming a joke.

I have a budget of around £25k and have been considering two options:

Audi e-tron Black Edition (2021 SUV)
Audi A5 Sportback Edition 1 (2021)

My workplace has recently installed an electric charger, which I can use a few times a week at no cost. This has me leaning towards the e-tron since I could essentially drive it for free on my daily 40-mile commute. I also plan to install a home charger for weekend use.

However, I’m concerned about the potential depreciation of the e-tron. Could it lose a lot of value and be almost worthless in 5 years? On the other hand, the A5 might be more expensive to run but may hold its value better over time.

Also, is the e-tron 50 Black Edition sufficient for my needs, or is it worth spending a bit more for the e-tron 55? I only take long trips occasionally, but I’m wondering if the extra range and power are worth the additional cost.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and advice!

Cheers

The wife sent her E TRON 50 S Line back at the end of her pcp in March, replaced with A5 Sportback

E TRON is a great car if you can charge at home, have a cheap electricity night tariff and accept 150 to 185 miles range. It is a great car and if you’re buying used, most will have already done the bulk of their depreciation.

The 55 does maybe 30 miles more and has more power.

Spiortback again on pcp, New E TRON monthlies were crazy.

Our kids are older, I wouldn’t get one (sport back) if planning to put baby in car seat as the roofline is low and rear access is ok but cramped.
