Hello,

I'm looking to add a car to my stable - right now I have an Exige 430 Cup, a Caterham 485s, an Alfa Romeo SZ, an E46 M3, an Impreza WRX STI (hawkeye) and a Ferrari CS.

I'm looking at old cars or something relatively modern. I'm currently undecided between a 1972 Alfa Giulia 1750 and a Ferrari 599 (top end of my budget) or a 2001 X50 911 Turbo. My first choice would be a Scud, as that would complement nicely my CS, but current prices are outside my reach.

Rationally I think I should buy the Porsche, but I'm not totally sold.... any input or opinion would be appreciated.

Wow!! I would really like to know, if you don't mind, how you store that many cars and ensure they're not sitting around too long? I am finding it hard to manage 4 cars and thinking about building a carport even though that means they're still exposed to the weather.

I am especially concerned about leaving a convertible outside through winter.

I drive them smile they are all parked indoor... I do my best to drive them all every now and then...although the M3, Impreza and Exige are usually driven the most as they are easier to live with...while the CS, Caterham and Alfa are used quite seldom to be honest.

Are they garaged or parked in a driveway?

I'd go 996 GT3 to complete my noughties fantasy garage with the M3, 360 CS, and Impreza. (I was an avid EVO reader back then).

All nicely parked in an underground garage.

Of your list I'd go 599, because you're lacking a V12 currently. Also this thread is pretty inspiring.

True... never owned a 12 cylinder... a bit of scared of maintenance costs though.... but yes the allure of a 599 is a big temptation. Thanks for the link. Will go through it.

Would a V12 Aston Martin fit the bill, gives you quite a good age range of 2000-2020 in various forms of Vanquish or DBS depending on budget?

I had a 2002 911 turbo - not X50, but I did have it mapped.

One of the dullest cars I've owned - I'd choose one of the others.

I guess it depends what you really want to do with it....

One of my greatest enjoyments is cruising through France in the summer and I've done this in some wildly inappropriate cars - 2 seaters with no luggage space, like the Ford GT or Morgan +8.

This year I bought myself a 911 C4S and am heading off to France next week - it seems more suited as a GT car than others I've had. I am new to Porsche, they're nicely made and very driver focussed.

If it was summer Sundays only in the UK, I'd probably buy something a bit more mental.

Thanks, unfortunately I'm not into Aston. Maybe because I'm not British, but I find them a bit bland.
