Having watched a few YouTubers talking about scams online when buying cars, I’m on high alert…. Has anyone heard of, or had any dealings with KGS?

I spoken with them to ask why/how they could sell their cars for so cheap and got some very vague answers at best!

Most of them seem to be older - did you spot that its not new cars?

It’s a scam. Stay away please.
I got done by these guys few weeks ago. Thankfully I had paid most of my stuff via credit so have got 90% of the money back.
It’ll all look very official and these guys are absolute experts at it. But they are impersonating a real company on companies house.
I spoke to the REAL David Swann on the phone and the matter is with the police.

Sorry to hear that - it's scary just how many similar companies to KGS are on Instagram/Social Media.

My advice to anyone would be to stay away from any leasing company advertising on social media.
1. Their scam essentially is, they find companies that are listed as “leasing companies” on companies house.
2. Create a website and social media page with the matching name and start doing deals. Having followed their social media accounts every time they are caught they switch their accounts to private and come back with a new name. This way it looks like they’ve been posting about cars for weeks/months.
3. They never come across as pushy for the money and almost leave it so that it comes across as your call.
4. They take part deposit initially then pretend to prep stuff then ask for the rest of the money.

How to catch them out:
1. Right click on their website and Google when it was set up- usually a few weeks prior to you discovering it.
2. A “leasing company” is usually a subsidiary for other bigger companies. In KSG’s case it’s a building company and they use the “leasing company” to lease diggers and stuff. Find the original company and corroborate with them.
3. The location of the company head quarters don’t always match up to the number they call you from. In ksgs case it’s a Nottingham number for a Bristol company.
4. Get all your vehicle details- run it through the dvla website and run it through the motor insurance bureau directory. They claim that all their cars come with their insurance. No vehicle can be insured without a valid MOT and Tax.
5. Ask them to supply you with weird niche cars- they aren’t many of them around and they basically go on Autotrader and Nick one- you can stick these details into a website like carsnitch to find out where it’s actually on sale.

They even sent me a video of a car, they had removed the audio (where the salesman would be talking) and left in the Audio for the start up etc. they are very cunning so don’t be too hard on yourself if they caught you out!
