We are looking for a 7 seater for the family, and are thinking about a 2-3 year old XC90.

A facelifted version launched in September.

Is it sensible to wait 2-3 months to see how residuals are affected?

Cheers

If it's already out I wouldn't bother. The new one is probably more expensive and therefore not really impacting used values any more than normal depreciation.

This type of thing used to make a big difference but having looked at multiple cars over the years a new model or a mild facelift seems to be little to no difference now.

It used to be bargain galore when an update was released.

The new one is only a nip and tuck facelift so I wouldn’t expect it to have much effect on all but the newest ‘old’ model values, so carry on. We have a relatively early (2017) D5 and they are great family wagons.

One thing to note is that Volvo are releasing a big update to the infotainment system in 2025 for cars equipped with AAOS, and this will be rolled out onto existing cars and not just new cars.

So if buying used, worth looking into what system it has and ensure it's new enough to receive the tech update next year.
