Looking for a bit of advice here chaps. My wife needs a car for the next 6-12 months due to a job change and new company car lead times being so long. Have a budget of around £12,500 and needs to have a high level of practicality.

She's got her heart set on the above despite my comments on the potential reliability problems and is refusing to come around on the issue, so my question is what do I need to look out for if viewing cars in order to spot a good one, and are they as bad as is suggested?

Is this the one that has the 2.0d ignium engine? If so I would not consider it - based on having my own engine replaced now.

We used to have an Evoque and deliberately went for the 2.2d engine option, we are now thinking of changing our current XC60 and my wife is keen on a Discovery Sport although we both know it would have to be a 2.2d non-ULEZ version, which are 2015-2016 as I daren't take a risk on the Ingenium engine version.

I sold our Evoque to a 4x4 specialist from Shropshire, he said for Evoques and Discovery Sports he will only buy the 2.2d as the number of warranty claims and dissatisifed customers he has to deal with for the 2.0d Ingenium versions are not worth the hassle or his reputation....

As above a 2015 2.2 is the way forward, avoid the Ingenium.

Last of the Freelander 2's should also be in budget...essentially the same car underneath as Disco Sport?!

Cheers,

Chris
