Looking for a car to drive daily and put through the business. Been thinking about these:

BMW i7 - look like there's £500 pcm deals available on these
Landrover Defender Commercial - clearly can put through business, again, hold their value well
Range Rover Sport P460 / P550 - good deals on these, tax efficient through business
Range Rover P460 - not as good deals, prefer the look of the full fat one to the Sport but it's more money for basically the same car
Ford Ranger - some of the guys in work have these, really nice truck

I had a RAM Rebel V8 through work before and that was amazing, but left hand drive and my gym now has gates that mean I'd need to get out to exit, which will be annoying.

Presently daily driving a personally owned Bentayga, but will be selling that shortly. Car needs to be more anonymous than that as you just get jealous people talking behind your back if you've anything rare (or clearly expensive).

I think any of the above in black would be non-descript enough to not have any negativity (which gets in the way of business tbh).

Any other choices worth looking at? Looked at a BMW i5 and don't think its as good as i7 for same money. Looked at new M5 but not out till November and deals on these are way more than any of the above as its brand new.

The Landrovers are all 5% bik or commercial rated. The BMW is 2% bik, the trucks are commercial.

Am I missing any amazing deals out there for 5% and under bik rated cars, or commercial cars I'm not aware of? Not looked at a Kia EV9.

Again... anonymous car, that won't get attention and people being jealous little dicks, that is tax efficient but lovely to drive daily. Any other ones to consider?

Volvo XC60 T8 or Volvo XC90 T8

Both stupidly quick, very comfortable, Volvo badge. PHEV so lowish BIK if that matters.

The Volvos are nice without being too flash.

Most jealous people would still consider any Range Rover or i7 flash if that’s what you’re trying to avoid.

Discovery commercial over defender commercial for anonymity. Cheap private plate to make it look older if you want to go all in.

A black Range Rover Sport conjures up a lot of impressions and prejudices in my head but anonymity is not one of them!

I honestly think black in the majority of those cars makes them worse, Black Range Rovers and Defenders so have a bit of an image problem if that is what you're trying to avoid.

I think either Range Rover is completely transformed by being not in black though.

I think the i7 could work well, but would look at a lighter color potentially, or at the very least avoid the black grill with black, if you do like darker colours then maybe something like a Carbon Black on the BMW and equivalent on the others might help.

Being honest, there’s nothing in that list that could be called anonymous.

If you really want anonymity, a highly specified example of some of these types of car might be the place to start:

- 540i Touring

- E Class estate - not the ÁMG variant

- Toyota Camry (aka Lexus ES without the posh frock)

These are three examples of cars that are totally forgettable while still being comfortable, quick enough for most driving in this country, and don’t attract any attention at all.

Now ensure that you don’t fit a vanity reg for something that’s nicely anonymous and is instantly forgotten by everyone who sees it.

Not to hijack the thread, but I’d be interested to hear your experiences with the RAM.

I don’t have a need for a truck, but it’s a car that always makes it onto my shortlist smile

Maybe I'm out of touch but none of the vehicles in that list seem at anonymous, if anything, exactly the opposite, especially in black.

No idea of the tax implications of specific models but some variety of A6 estate maybe? Do they still sell Allroads in the UK?

All of those cars you are considering will NOT look anonymous, even in black. Whatever £100k+ car you ride around in for business, you are going to look like you are charging your clients far too much.

If you want a tax efficient car for work that looks Comfortable and is Anonymous and offers Luxury, it aint' happening.

You need to drop the luxury checkbox, and ride around in something like a Tesla Model 3/Y, in white, to look as non-descript as possible.

Agree with Raspy fully. OP- outside of enthusiast spaces like this most people see cars as white goods, it's only natural they would think someone dropping six figures on obviously flashy motors like an FFRR or a 7 series is a show-off.

Get a Lexus RX. Punters won't notice you at all wink

Like others I'd say there's nothing anonymous in your list; with the exception of the pick-up most people would see these as top-end / premium vehicles and you risk the dreaded jealousy.

A more subtle premium car would be left field, like the Lexus LS or RX as mentioned above. The plug-in hybrid RX is not as low BIK as an EV but not too bad. A Porsche Taycan in a dull colour doesn't look flash and there are plenty about, so they happen to be much less stand out than, say, a 911 despite being a similarly expensive car when new.

What about an Audi A8 in silver? Most people won't be able to tell it from an A6, or even an A4, especially if you get it de-badged.

This, Audi S8 in Silver. Debadged.

Get a nearly new one as there are bargains to be had - they depreciate quite quickly.

Toys, luxury, serious pace and anonymity guaranteed to all but the most switched-on petrolhead.

Still a long and wide car, and likely to signal that the OP is making handsome profits from his business, even if he buys a nearly new one and takes advantage of depreciation.

Alpina B5 without stickers or badges (no cost for removing). Nobody will have a clue what it is, it's super comfy and ballistically fast.

Mine has the stickers and nobody knows what it is. laugh
