I am considering a Proceed shooting brake in order to get into something with a bit more tech and standard options. I am looking at the GT model (so without pan roof, powered tailgate and digital dash) with the 1.6 engine in 201bhp form coupled to the DCT transmission. I'm avoiding the GT S as it's not possible to fit roof bars with the pan roof (I often have roof box / bikes to shift around)

I'll be coming from a Golf R estate so I'm under no illusions the Kia will be anywhere near it in terms of performance/handling but it's time to get into something a bit cheaper/economical for a few years. Something like the one on Autotrader below is what I have in mind

I've had a look at a couple and had a test drive, but I'd appreciate any 'real world' experience longer term. Main queries are,

- How does the DCT gearbox fair around town?
- On a longer motorway run, what sort of fuel consumption can be expected?
- Does the steeply raked rear create any significant issues with loading up for a trip away?
- Anything I get will have the balance of the warranty, but are there any common issues to watch out for?

It fairs just fine but make sure the fluid changes are done on time like all DC gearboxes they're sensitive.

On a run mid to high 30's is a reality.

As far as I know no big issues, I can't answer about the boot as I've never had to load one.

I would say that if you have a Peugeot dealer near you the 508 is a cracking family car:
