Hi all.
I currently have a 2015 civic 1.8 na, I still think it looks a great car in white with upgraded alloys, but I've hit 40 years of age now, and fancied something with a little much low down punch.

The next version of my car is a 10th gen civic, I've seen a clean example, 42k miles, white, 1.5t, 180bhp, for £14,850, it's the "plus" model so has a few next extras on a 68 plate (2018).

I am just not sure how much of an upgrade it is, my car is worth about £5800, so it is costing me £9,000 for 3 years newer, (drop in my mileage, my car has 66k miles).

I was considering a warm hatch, like a polo GTI plus, 200 bhp, fancy digital dash, and could probably get one for about £16000. Id still like something that gets 35mpg around town.

There are a few options with the ea888 engine, like an Octavia vrs and seat Leon.

I want to get a motor with a max mileage of 45k, max price £16,000.. decent mpg.

Any thoughts on the Honda civic 1.5t vs polo GTI welcome, or alternative suggestions..

Kind regards

The new Civic is quite a big car these days isn't it. It's nearly 4.7m isn't it. That could be a plus or minus.

I think £9k to pay for a 3 year newer version of the same car (Civic) seems to me like a lot of money.
There are plenty of other options from the VAG group, if you wished to go down that route, e.g. Leon FR, Octavia VRS (as you mentioned), Golf GTi.

It also comes down to what the driver for the change is... is it you have the money and want the change or as you're now 40 and want something with a bit more go?

Hi,

I essentially fancy something with a little more go, I test drove a Leon fr 2018 TDI 184, and even that was more impressive that my 1.8 na Honda.

The 190PS Seat Leon, 7 speed DSG or the MK7.0 GTI, its far more capable capable compared to the Polo. Random one from AT which is just over your mileage indication, https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202407262...

From that list I'd seriously consider the Hyundai.
