Low mileage diesel auto Ford Galaxy ok?
Discussion
I’m new here 👋🏻. Currently driving a 66 plate Galaxy Titanium diesel 190ps. Very happy jusy want a newer one as I need it for another good few years. Lots seem to be ex motability with 8K mileages on 3 year old cars. All diesel automatics. I’ve heard so many conflicting stories about whether low mileage is an issue for the DPF and EGR. It is impossible to know the style they have been driven in, although one I’m looking at is from right by a motorway so possibly not an issue. Just seeking opinions on here ☺️
Where are you seeing / how do you spot these ex-Motability cars (wheelchair conversions notwithstanding?
Just found this 2021 Ford Motability price guide and they listed the 2.0 EcoBlue 150PS diesel in manual and auto.
I could use another true 5-seater and have been keeping an eye out for a “£20k” Touran with LED headlights but they would appear to be are rarer than rocking horse doo-dah and I have begun to think about the S-Max / Galaxy.

Buy one and subject it to a healthy Italian tune-up.
My dad was warned by his mechanic that the car needs a good run. Of course, he knew better…
Also, even motorway diesels can get by on never exceeding 2000rpm. Some folk are obsessed by eeking out mpg.
Cars need driven. Buy what you want/need and don’t be afraid of the occasional heavy right foot. A couple of extra tanks over the term will be way cheaper than a clogged up motor.

The wet clutch powershift boxes are fine as long as you service them every 37.5K. My 2018 Mondeo has one and is now on 91k with zero issues but it has been serviced twice.
Yep my 66 plate gearbox serviced at 37 and 70K, now at 78. I think it was pre 2015 that had the issues? I certainly drive regularly and plenty of open roads so give it a good blow through. Just really seeking thoughts on buying low mileage and whether damage will have been done to DPF already that is irreversible Gassing Station | Car Buying | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
