Earlier in the year posted, decided to save a few months and increase my budget.

So now have a 25k budget. There are a few must haves still, but ultimately I have scaled back a bit on my expectations.

The must haves...
Body style: Saloon or SUV
Diesel or mild hybrid
Premium feel
Apple carplay
Automatic
Either black or dark grey
Leather interior
Cruise control
Decent quality sound system

The would like but could sacrifice list...
Adaptive cruise control
Sunroof
Diamond cut alloys

I have been really digging the 2021 XF and F-Pace..however both are staggeringly hard to find in general let alone in my price range.

Looked at Mercs, BMW, Audi (eugh), Skoda, Kia, Seat... no further forward.

Just need some solid recommendations and that might end up swaying me a bit more.

I'd suggest deciding between saloon and SUV should be your first step

3 Series BMW. They look great and do everything to a high standard. They’ll remain super desirable and will hold their value well.

Fair point.

In this case, the boot just need to fit a set of golf clubs and a golf trolley and some other small bits and bobs comfortably. So whatever does that the best.

You are going to struggle to find lots of choice when it comes to 2021 cars, especially in terms of the type of car you want. Covid and chip shortages impacted production of lots of new cars back then.

Just in case you weren't aware - don't get either of them with the two litre diesel.

Having rented, been supplied and test drove a silly amount of cars in the last 6 weeks I totally agree.

Only reason to not consider one is you need more size.
