[Mods this isn't a car buying thread, please don't move it]

We all read Shed and we all enjoy it, but there must be a winner. For pure Shedism, it's the old: Fast, Reliable, Cheap - pick two. But surely there's more to shedding than that.

Let's say £1500 max, per Shed rules.

Reliability and running costs are a given, but what about driver appeal and coolness? Maybe something flash and fun that breaks a lot is better than something boring and reliable...

What is the Ultimate Shed?

ETA: If we agree on a winner by 19th August, it 100% will get bought. VED and MPG are irrelevant - I daily a 2022 Alpina B5!

I love a shed, wife actually loves a shed (even if she doesn't admit it) and we need a PubKa (so called because the first ever shed was a £300 Ka).

VVC, looks like it may have been well cared for, 1100kg mid-engined sports car for a lot less money than an A110.

Each of the 12(!) owners did 5583 miles apiece! laugh

But at this point I'm buying it in a fortnight. biglaugh

I bought this for 1500 last month

Fast, cool, reliable, 3.0L six pot, shoddy paint so sheddy.

It’s gone to its new owner now but I’d say it must be right up there for the money.

I then bought this for £950

Well under budget and pretty decent with being the supercharged one.

There’s plenty of fun sheds out there if you don’t mind higher VED and lower mpg’s.

Sad Times frown

There's plenty of interesting metal upon the Autotrader at sub-1500, most with the dreaded phrase 'spares or repair' at the start of the ad.

However, this might be where my grand-and-a-half might be going for some summer fun => https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202408032...

If you can link to a 330Ci for sale for <= £1500, then depending on condition I'd be prepared to concede that one of those would be a preferable Shed to the MGF I posted.

It can go very wrong

Probably due a cam belt, which is high(ISH) labour on an S80 due to it being so tight in the engine bay. And whilst it might drive smoothly, once fully warmed up anything more than 50% throttle might result in massive gear flare and huge thumps from the gearbox due to a borked valve block.

In the MG stakes, I think you could do better than that. You could easily get into a TF with < 100K on the clock - I traded my one in earlier in the year and it sold on the forecourt of the dealer the next day with an advertised price of £1500. It was a good car - we put about 65K miles on our one, largely trouble free.
