Watch Onslow's Cortina in an old episode of "Keeping Up Appearances". That certainly was a car which made a bang......

Though in the context of car adverts, it means that it hasn't got any parking dents, bumper scuffs or similar.

Just a saying meaning all is well. Gears can bang. Bad suspension components can bang and squeak and rattle and knock.

Quite a nice overall generalisation that a car is in good running order.

It's a good indication that the seller is an idiot so you can move on to the next ad

Really? I thought it basically meant ‘the suspension isn’t fooked as far as I’m aware’

It's an age old, and I thought well known - if slightly ineloquent - way to describe a car without worn suspension.

It means it has knocks and bangs but they think the numerous oil changes might have solved it for the next 100 miles.

It also comes with:
'A full £30 valet'
''A fresh oil change'
And...
'30 days aftermarket warranty'.

Sold as trade sale.

fking avoid.

I always took it to mean no noises as you drive it (bushes and ball joints etc are all good).

If you’re a looks critic, it refers to bodywork, if your a typical PH member, it refers to bushes and drop links and if you’re a vintage car enthusiast, it refers to engine, crank and bearings.

Aka, verging on meaningless without context...
