I have seen a BMW M140I for sell at a performance car garage that i am really keen on-it has a number of BMW modifications and spec- that appeal to me.
I haven't viewed yet as it is some distance from me but, did do some vehicle checks on it and the main thing that i am unsure about is plate changes the reports showed.

Basically, the first day it was registered in November 2018, on that day, it was first assigned a 67 plate (should be a 68) and then the same day, a five digit private plate was registered to it. I suppose there could have been some admin error at the dealers, and i went to check the 67 plate to see if it was a different BMW but, that plate isn't in use now?

The car seems to have been first delivered to a BMW dealers in the south, who did a pre-inspection/service a month before it was then taken to a Glasgow dealership, and the 67 plate it had for a day and the the now 68 plate are both from that area.

The private plate then stayed on for another year until i presume, the first owner sold and then it was a assigned a 68 plate that is still on it now.

I expect its a non issue but, i have that nagging doubt that somethings adrift and that i might get questions when i come to sell if it flags up red on someone else's vehicle check.

The other red part was for outstanding finance but, this shows as unit stocking 3 month finance with Santander, which the dealer explained as well and so i understand this will be cleared if/when i purchase.

Is it just of case of making sure the VIN and engine numbers match the V5 and report?

Interestingly, on one of the reports i did, the 67 plate didn't even appear, and the dealer selling said it didn't show on his- only the private plate that was put on.

I know there are people in the trade on here who might have seen something like this before and can maybe give me there thoughts?

Thanks. It probably is just that, so if i decide to view, i will double check VIN and engine number.

Just i see it as a potential issue if i get it and then eventually sell.

Do a genuine HPI check. Some of the cheaper 3rd part checks showing correct data from time to time especially with cherished reg numbers involved.
