is it me?
Have our car up for sale, not the first, and much to swombo definitely not the last.
Has the marketplace change, inasmuch as expectations (being polite here) of the buyers before they even see the car?
It's a 2022 AUDI so pretty new still..... but so far "interested parties" have insisted on me buying a report .... historically I have purchased HPI and now, having purchased one to pacify a tyre-kicker (Prime Check) it seems many newer options to the traditional HPI and from what I can tell, feck all difference in what they tell you about the car (entry level reports, here)....stolen/police record/MOT (not applicable)/number of owners/VIN (part thereof)/performance etc etc
Have other PHers experienced this level of expectation?
or, is it me?
cheers!

It's a scam, please be careful, if they want a report, they can pay for it themselves.

If you want to get a report, then use one of the trusted report suppliers.

THANKS - appreciate the quick comments (haven't you lot got jobs to do biggrin ) and just skimmed through the thread referenced in an earlier reply.... the enquiries have all been emails (as an FYI) no mobile calls (I try very hard not to answer any non-contact calls) and must say after the exchange of emails earlier with two (allegedly) buyers chasing them to confirm appointments, am now taking the view that you either come and view/negotiate or buy your own report at your cost and I'll refund the costs off whatever price we agree on.

If you drop the price I guess it's a bit academic anyway, but I wouldn't be refunding them. They want a report - they can pay for it!

No your price is the price - this is a scam, have you paid for one already? It will also have your payment details if so, so I would be making sure that particular payment card is kept an eye on.

Its up to the buyer to check your car, not you. Perhaps if remedials were required but otherwise this is just overthinking.

>> Thanks, yes I always use a c/card for online purchases and check the apps regularly for any spurious charges

OP, the problem is you've given your card details to a known scam 'site.
Might be wise to talk to your card provider about cancelling and getting a new card.
Eta, I see someone else has mentioned this but I think it's very important.

With a 2022 car you’d probably do well to try WBAC or any of the other car buying sites. It would probably be a candidate for a used approved vehicle.

Also have my car in the classifieds and have had several of these emails. I find it hard to believe anyone has fallen for this but appreciate it may not be an obvious scam to some. As another poster has said, I think you should probably get that card cancelled pretty damn quickly!

Quite simply, if anyone wants to carry out checks on your car, they can crack on, but there’s no way a seller should be paying for these. The ‘Primecheck’ and similar websites are pretty shocking. Address is great - ‘United Kingdom House, London’. The map showing location is somewhere in New York.

Yes had this with the car I sold recently and have just put my other car up for sale (on PH) before the insurance is due. Within a few minutes two enquiries, both gmail, both with no questions except is it available. Played them along, with one word answers. No real details required, both want to view. Then, "we need the prime check", the other "motorfacts".
Both emails now blocked.
