I made a thread but I have narrowed it down to these cars

Volvo V60 - Inscription Pro (2019) - D4 FWD Auto
Volvo V90 - R Design Pro (2019) - D4 FWD Auto

They are more or less the same price, the V90 is slightly cheaper on Volvo finance which is what I will be taking out for the meantime, I have my reasons for taking it out (the difference is around £5pm only)

Use case:

Single owner, coming from a mid size SUV
D4 engine only due to insurance - insurance is the same
30 mile return motorway commute, total mileage 13-15k pa
Will be used for motorways, foreign holidays, and regularly picking up friends and family

Requirements:

Wafty, good stereo, comfy, quick enough.

The best stereo: V90
Comfiest seats: don’t know
Premium interior : V90, don’t know how much worse the V60 is
Most equipment: V60
Fastest: V60
Waftiest: V90

But they seem too similar!

If you can live with the size V90, they usually have a slightly better standard spec too.

V90 has brilliant autonomous tech / pilot - the v60 doesn’t

By chance a V90 D4 with polestar , carplay, winter pack and a few other choice goodies came up. Took it for a drive and liked it very much.

Thanks guys

I’ve just found out the V90 does not come with front sensors as standard! Crazy!!

Has anyone found this a problem? It’s feckin enormous. I work and constantly am driving and parking in central London so worried this might make driving more stressful.
Not a problem in my Fiat 500 but the V90 is awfully long.

Yes the early ones come without. We added it when we leased our 18 plate.
Sensors are a must as the combination of long bonnet and low seating position makes knowing where the front is challenging when parking.

I’ve ran both.
Had the V90 first for 2 years then the V60 for 2 years straight after. The V90 was the car I missed most out of the two. Both decent but the V90 drove better, was more practical and felt more premium as you would expect being a class higher.

Yes I added the autonomous parking to mine in 2018 as it was basically the same price as adding the front sensors alone. As it’s 5m long you really need them for town use.

Yes it's a problem. You can't see the end of the bonnet lol.
Reversing sensors (in my experience) also have gaps. I had a reversing camera fitted to mine to make reversing easier.

We use the 300bhp T/B6 V90 + V60 at work

Both woefully unreliable and poor too drive quickly.

They are not a performance car, no matter what engine they have fitted.

Loads of electrical issues. Long waits for parts. Petrols drink fuel. All of the current Volvo's seem stiffly sprung but under dampened for their size + weight and bounce around when they get driven down a back road. Interiors don't seem to hold up.

Get the best BMW you can afford. They are vastly superior in every way.

You can get pilot assist on the V60, but it was an option, not standard.

We have the V60 and can vouch for it being long, and the front hard to place!
