Decided its time to get a full fat range rover.
Budget is about 25k so looking at 16-18 reg as has ro be ulez
Is the 4.4 v8 the more reliable engine that the 3.0 tdv6?
Obviously will be checking full service history etc, but all else being equal is the 4.4 the safer bet?
Thanks

In a word: yes.

The TDV6 is regarded to be no more economical and a bit breathless in comparison.

The SDV8 in the L405 is a brilliant, brilliant combination. Very reliable unit, fairly economical for its size (low 30s are possible), relentless torque and very decent power levels.

I would consider a remap if that's your thing, really transforms the SDV8 in terms of takeoff. That was the only criticism I had, it's a bit binary at junctions, you're either dawdling upto speed or experience all the power.

Wouldn't be touching the 6 with a bargepole myself.
