Hello,
In the process of buying a VW Golf 2020, ex motibility. Asked the dealer for the service history which has been provided. All looks good however the last service indicates mileage higher than the subsequent MOT that was carried out 3 months later. It was supposedly serviced all at a VW main dealer. So the mileage discrepancy is not significant however I presumed this would all be digital now so would not have thought it could be a mistake? Any thoughts?

It could quite simply be that one of then misread or input the wrong mileage.

Digital just means someone keying it into a computer, easy to make an error.

I wouldn't let it worry me.

If it does worry you it's not exactly an uncommon car.

If it’s ex motability the dealer can request Motabilitys digital maintenance record (even if purchased at auction) which shows all service items with the recorded mileage at the point of invoice. This can often be different to what is logged on a DSR.

In regards the mileage, there is no reason why anyone would click a Motability car.

I had something similar with a TT mk3 - it turned out that the trip computer hadn’t been reset since the car was nearly new and the display sits next to the odometer, so someone keyed the trip mileage in instead. Wouldn’t be surprised if that happened here

My mother-in-law has a Motobility car and they are very strict on the mileage the car is able to do, circa 9k p.a. from memory, but may be less.
They are strict on the mileage as they tend to go back to the manufacturers who then retail them as 3 year old low mileage cars.

Her last couple went back with about 4k on them and 3 years old...

Motability customers are allowed up to 20k miles per year, i've had mine for 4.5 years and am currently on about 86k miles.

My new car is due in September and i think i'll be on about 90k miles.

Thanks Blue Haddock, MY MIL must be getting something wrong somewhere, although she hardly ever goes anywhere, her latest one in an electric Mini, which she's had for 9 months and 1,500 miles...
