I've put my car up for sale, it's off the road and haven't had time to sort the sorn out up until this weekend. IF, i sorn the car now, can a buyer, say on monday tax/ sorn the car themselves? OR because I HAVE only just sorned the car, a p eroid of waiting until the car can be tax/sorn with new owner on monday?

thank you

It's not an issue as long as it has a current MOT, they'd have to tax it themselves anyway so it's a non issue.

I've heard the system doesn't work instantly.
You might as well sorn it before the new month?

They will pay tax from the first iftey buy it anytime next month, if they can't tax it Monday AM, no big deal in reality.
If your buyer can't tax it until Tuesday or so, maybe they'll not want to take it away until it's taxed? Would that likely be a problem?

It's nothing to do with you and you shouldn't be getting involved. Take money for car, update keeper online, give new keeper green section, wave them goodbye. What they do after that is not your problem.

I placed a car on SORN and a new owner bought it and taxed it 2 days later. If you declare a car SORN, you get an on screen warning about not being to re-tax it within 5 days (database is not the quickest... ) but that is assuming no change of keeper.

With a change of registered keeper, it can be done online. smile
