Hi all, i bought a motorcycle beginning of this month. In short, seller said he'd transfer the vehicle online. When i didn't hear from him i called and texted for 3 days no answer. On the 4th day he picks up and says he replied to me asking for my full name, which he didn't, but i wanted to get it over and done with as my bike is due to ship out end of month. A week later, i call again and he says he couldn't do it online and says that he sent it via post. I then call dvla as its now been 17 days and no v5c, and I'm due to leave in 10 days, they say that he sent the old v5c (which means he also gave me the old v5's green slip).

Now the problem is, if i send a v62, that will take 4-5 weeks which will cause a hell of a lot of problems. I'm trying to reach him but he's being a bit difficult as he's always 'busy'. Would my v62 even be accepted if i send it with the old green slip?

I've also thought of him ordering a duplicate v5 (he said he couldn't find the most recent one) and then once he receives that, he can transfer it online, but I'm not sure he's open to the idea as he's avoiding me.

What are my options here? Is there anyway he could scam me like this or?

Appreciate any help regarding the matter.

Saw a thing on YouTube about something similar-a guy bought a focus ST, and was given the new keeper bit from the older V5-the seller had used the newest V5 to take out a logbook loan .only came to light when he came to sell it-id be going back round in person to see this guy

“ he said he can’t find the most recent one”
Why would he have two logbooks in the first place?

No clue as to why he'd have two v5's. Maybe change of details etc.

And as for the logbook loan, I've already done a hpi check, should i do another one now? Is there anyway to protect myself against any potential scams right now?

I thought that logbook loans don't appear on a hpi check?

I had two V5s for a car I've just sold. The DVLA issued a huge batch of duplicates on a new colour of form around 2012 as a security measure, following the theft of a stock of blank forms I believe.

Yes but the OP’s seller is being very evasive-very odd
Whenever I sell a motor I always want the thing out of my name soon as possible
