Does anyone have experience with Arval charges in relation to damaged number plates?

There doesn't seem to be a mention of it in the BVRLA guide, unless it's classed as body trim?

Whats damaged about it, for the sake of £15 - £20 why not just sort it out and not worry about it?

It's cracked after someone reversed into me while I was stationary. So I don't want to be out of pocket due to something that wasn't my fault.

Even if I get one for £15 it won't have the lease company branding on it, so they may just charge me for one anyway.

I'd be more worried about alerting the lease company to the bump than trying to save £15

You won't be able to (legally) order a replacement number plate without the V5 anyway, which being a lease, I assume you won't have...? I'd just pay the damage charges personally...

Yeah it's a pain that someone damaged it but it's a small cost and I'd likely replace it just to prevent it being noticed and them deciding to have a closer look in case there's anything beneath the surface. You might not have been at fault but you are still responsible for the condition of the car, the same way that if it had been stolen it'd be your responsibility to cover any shortfall on your insurance coverage, despite not being to blame.

They won't charge you for not having the lease company branding on the plate, the car is almost definitely going to Bruntingthorpe or similar to be auctioned off and the buyer is going to replace the plate with their own branded one anyway.

But you don't know what those charges could be, that's the point.

Phone them and ask them. "My number plate is cracked, no idea how it happened, how much if I don't replace it?".

It's a bread and butter question for them.

You can easily get UK legal plates made online without the V5, makes a total mockery of the law, but there we are.

I've got an irrational hatred for dealer branded plates and stickers so I've changed the plates on every lease I've had, never been charged or even commented on. They don't care.
