Hi. Got my eye on a CW2 Honda Accord Type-S Tourer (the K24 petrol JDM one) but, understandable, there isn’t much info/chat about them online. Thought I’d start a thread here just in case one of you guys happen to own or have owned one.

Just wondering about reliability, which in my head is a very strong point of these cars (though I do think I spotted a few comments about oil consumption?); what mpg I can expect with mixed driving (bit odd they have a 5-speed auto, wonder how much that harms mpg); not important but any idea what the 0-60 time is; and what does the K24 in this car rev too?! smile

I had a UK spec 2.4 Accord tourer, it never missed a beat, very well put together car. Different to the JDM version but that might mean its slightly more exciting than than the UK car.

Do you know what kind of mpg you got from your UK one?!

I had a good look into these, the 2.4 isnt the best MPG wise, but what you spend on fuel and tax you should make up for in reliability.

I didnt go for one in the end, Ive been looking at the Dtec Civic as it seems to be a bulletproof Diesel and gets much better mpg and lower tax.

Come in the tourer guise too.

Do you mean you looked into the JDM Type-S? I'm surprised more aren't brought over by importers. They appear to be a great car.

I could get low 30s if I was very careful, more like mid 20s though. I drove a lot of country roads and often loaded up.

Might be the reason I decide it isn’t the car for me! I’m coming from a Jaguar S-Type R so 30mpg(ish) is a good ‘improvement’ over the 22 I was getting from my Jag. But, as I’ve been using my Mum’s 2001 Ford Puma for a while, I’ve got used to near 40mpg…one of the reasons for selling my Jag was to reduce daily running costs.

However, if the Honda lived up to the legendary reliability and, I imagine, wouldn’t lose a lot a money if I kept it for 3-4 years (my STR and Forester STi I owned before didn’t really depreciate), then maybe I could see it as a sensible choice when compared to something like an F55 Mini Cooper S (that’s capable of 40mpg+)?!

Quick search seems to suggest the performance figures for this are 0-60 in 8.5, 201bhp @ 7100rpm. I suspect max rpm will be around 7.500rpm.

It seems the 5 speed auto and it's weight (nearly 1600kg) are making it slower compared to other fast Honda's which is why there seems to be hardly any out there.

Have you considered the Accord Euro R? These are more popular as it's effectively the same engine, gearbox etc as the DC5 Intergra so much more punchy than the version your looking at:

Hmm, I’d be ok with that kind of performance if it was returning north of 40mpg. But at 30mpg I’d hope for a chunk more go! Doesn’t stop it being a cool car though smile

I do love a Honda manual (I used to own a DC2 Integra) but as it would be daily, I prefer an automatic.
