Considering another annual car change. I’ve had and/or driven a few nice sports/super/GT cars, but never a V12.
Currently in M8 Competition.

I don’t want something ancient and CarPlay and reliable auto or dual-clutch gearbox are needed. Other than that I’m open to any suggestions.

DB11 V12 seems an obvious choice - just wondering if exhaust on a 2021-22 car will not be muted. My M8 Comp for instance disappoints a little in the sound and drama department, probably because it‘s a car compliant with 2022 EU regs.

Previous gen Vantage V12 with Sportshift iii ( automated manual ) might be worth a look.
You can get CarPlay retro added.
Noise is sublime and if still too quiet , get the secondary cats deleted and replaced with straight pipes and a switch to then control the exhaust valves.

If its noise you want then I can thoroughly recommend the AMG engined Vantage , a wonderful thing .

If it was me going out to buy a V12 for £100k, I'd see that a Ferrari FF was in budget and then lose interest in anything else.

Why would anyone want to make a car sound like that? You do know everyone says 'wker' whenever those loud cars go past? I don't understand what the driver thinks is happening in that scenario. Do you sit at lights and rev your engine too? Can you explain the reasoning for this behaviour, as I've always wondered what is going on in your head.

I think you may have strayed onto the wrong site but then I saw a couple of your replies on EV's and all was clear.

I’m assuming you didn’t read the whole post about the valves so you can choose between loud and quiet.
If you live your life fearing what others think of you it will be quite a poor existence.
And not all of us just drive around towns ‘reving at lights’. He might want the extra noise when out in the country on some nice driving roads or on a track day and then drive normally with valves closed in town and the judgmental (jealous) people won’t even know your there.

Thanks all for replying.
I sort of knew the choice was DB11, Vantage or an older Ferrari. One of the Astons is what I‘m leaning towards at the moment

Life can be dull, when there is something that makes you just smile gives an inner glow, an almost unexplainable high/lift then you embrace it.

It's not for everyone sure, and yes some think it's anti social. Loud noise is associated with, danger, adrenaline, 'Raaa' think of war chants, or sports, or nature, music festivals where the bass vibrates your chest, noise equals powerful, yes you might see it as childish in a car but there is something in it in our basic instincts.

Modern life can mean soft touch keyboards, triple glazing, exhausts you can't even hear when the cars running, comfort and niceties that we all also appreciate, sometimes some of us want the flip side, the discomfort, the danger, the rawness even if its often just an illusion of it.

I wouldn't ignore the Vanquish either personally as IMHO a bit of a bargain . Better inside and out than the other Aston options mentioned and has the 570hp NA V12 from the Vantage V12S so will sound fabulous. especially after a trip to Bamford Rose.

None of them come with carplay as standard so will all need to have it retrofitted.

Good shout.
DB11 will have CarPlay as standard I’d assume, certainly 2021/22 cars which are in my budget

For me Waze is a must hence the requirement for CarPlay.
People complain about poor infotainment on this car or that but all I need is Carplay and then (1) Waze (2) phone (3) Spotify (and all the car controls away from the touchscreen)

I think the tech in the DB11 was quite old when new, so I wouldn't be so sure.

I'd go with a Vanquish S and get Carplay retrofitted.

Probably the best built car AM has ever made...and the noisecloud9

Yep, unfortunately you're lookig at £120k+ for a MK2 S.

The big one for the MK2 Vanquish is getting a >2014 car with the 8 speed gearbox as improves performance and drivability considerably. With your budget not an issue though, even later 2015/16 cars are around the £80-85k mark these days.

I’d have never thought of S65. I posted on the off chance that I overlooked something on my shortlist and PH again did not disappoint.

Assuming budget is OK I beieve all the Vanq S came with android auto / car play as standard so not retrofitting.
The gearbox is a ZF 8 spd and is as you would expect brilliant and without "having to live with it issues" as some other boxes can give
As for noise....the best sounding of everything mentioned so far straight out the crate from AM.
The factory effectively did a bit of straight pipe exercise for you before the sale while fully retaining type approval etc so no MOT issues 595bhp and a full carbon body shell.
Worth doing the work to see if you can find one in budget and give it a try. The fezza is another good choice but probably needs a pipe on it so warranty issues and the cost of that may put you off.

I need to read up on these cars more but how would 2018 Vanquish S be different from 2021/22 DB11 V12? Both are AM GT cars… is it the noise, or handling primarily that are different?
